Regarded as one the best Star Wars games ever, 2005 tactical first-person shooter Star Wars: Republic Commando originally made its debut on Windows PC and Xbox consoles but has never been released across any other platforms.
A recent leak at Nintendo eShop servers, revealed by a known dataminer has lead many fans to consider that a Nintendo Switch version of Republic Commando is apparently making its way to handheld consoles sooner than expected.
Star Wars: Republic Commando was found by Switch dataminer and Twitter user NWPlayer123, currently listed for release. If this discovery is accurate, then titular shooter will be heading to a new platform soon after decades of launch.
Switch version of Republic Commando is currently being developed by Texas-based video game developer studio Aspyr Media, who ported many classic Star Wars games in past and is working on a Knights of the Old Republic Remake.
In an attempt to expand Star Wars universe, Lucas Arts is working alongside studios other than Electronic Arts after nearly a decade, starting with an open-world project revealed by Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft back in January.
Star Wars: Republic Commando came out only months before Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith premiere. It has led to events like Battle of Kashyyyk in live-action movie and though a sequel was planned, it was never released.
