Originally launched as PlayStation 4-exclusive title for Japan, Yakuza franchise spin-off murder-mystery game Judgment from developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and publisher Sega has received acclaim and commercial success upon release.
Sega announced to release a remastered version of Judgment for Google Stadia, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on April 23, 2021, set to feature a number of next-gen enhancement and improvements for a retail price of $39.99 only.
Sega also released an official trailer today, showcasing next-gen upgrades for remastered version of Judgment.
Judgment remaster will be taking full advantage of new hardware to deliver refined visuals at 60 frames per second. Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will get improved load times and all previously released DLCs bundled together.
Ryu Ga Gotoku decides to re-release Judgment for next-gen consoles after recent success of Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Sega didn't mention anything about a free next-gen upgrade path to PlayStation 5 for those who bought it for PS4.
Other than its Yakuza connection, Judgment was at the center of attention in 2019 because of a drug scandal of its Japanese voice actor. Sega stopped its distribution and promotion following controversy, making it a collector's item in Japan.
Judgment takes a darker approach to narrative than other Yakuza series entries while exploring the criminal underground of Kamurocho. Main story the game focuses on Takayuki Yagami, a private detective looking into a series of murders.
