There has not been any update on upcoming action-adventure hack and slash game Bayonetta 3 from developer Platinum Games and publisher Nintendo following an official announcement during The Game Awards 2017 event.
Long-time series fans are going restless for a Bayonetta 2 sequel and it looks like they have to wait some more. In a recent interview, series creator Hideki Kamiya teases an update on third Bayonetta game at a later point this year.
Ever since Bayonetta 3 was revealed back in 2017, Platinum Games have released Astral Chain and The Wonderful 101: Remastered so far and people started wondering whether they ended up cancelling the highly-anticipated game.
Hideki Kamiya talks detail about highly-anticipated Bayonetta 3 and confirmed it's not cancelled yet. However, fans shouldn't get excited right away and get high hopes anytime soon because it may take time for any news to come out.

Kamiya teases what to expect from Platinum Games regarding Bayonetta 3 in an interview with VGC website.
It's not really our position to say, but… it's January. We've got to have something come out, right? I guess it's safe to expect that something will come out. There's still a lot of the year left is what I'm saying.
Kamiya advises fans to just forget about Bayonetta for now and this way, they will get surprised when there is an update. There is a possibility that Bayonetta 3 has gone through some reboot if not a complete overhaul of some sorts.
We can at least expect to see new information on Bayonetta 3 in a future episode of Nintendo Direct later in 2021. Depending on current development progress, Platinum Games may release the game next year for Nintendo Switch.
