Resident Evil Movie Reboot Casts Revealed
Constantin Film reveals official cast for upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot by director Johannes Roberts.

Although commercially successful, Resident Evil live-action movie franchise directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien Vs. Predator, Death Race) has always been criticized by audience despite earning over $1 billion at box-office globally.
German film distribution company Constantin Film hires director Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down, Roadkill) for a series revival after announcing a reboot back in 2017 and recently, some major casts in important roles are revealed.
Given how previous movie adaptations by W.S. Anderson were heavily panned by critics and lead to controversies, Roberts promises to stay true to original source material because of his own personal connection to RE franchise.
Resident Evil reboot movie will be an origin story taking inspiration from first two games and set in Raccoon City of 1998. Now that primary cast members are finalized, Roberts is currently looking forward to a 2021 release window.
Albert Wesker
According to reports, British actor Tom Hopper (Game of Thrones, The Umbrella Academy) will be playing as Albert Wesker, a primary antagonist working for evil Umbrella Corporation and a recurring character in Resident Evil universe.
Wesker was in charge of S.T.A.R.S. elite team and was secretly a researcher of T-virus project to create bio-weapons for black market. Over time, he eventually grew from side character status and become a central villain in Resident Evil 5.

Chris Redfield
Known for his starring roles in TV horror genre, Canadian-American actor Robbie Amell (Code 8, Desperados) is hired to portray Chris Redfield, an original member of S.T.A.R.S. unit along with Captain Wesker and his partner Jill Valentine.
Ever since his first appearance during Spencer Mansion incident, Chris and Wesker will become adversaries. Redfield would soon part ways with Valentine to carry on his mission to thwart all evil plans of Umbrella Corporation for good.
Claire Redfield
Already starring in major Hollywood projects, actress Kaya Scodelario (Clash of the Titans, The Maze Runner) will assume the role of Claire Redfield, younger sister of B.S.A.A. operative Chris Redfield and a current member of TerraSave.
Claire came to a zombie-infested Raccoon City looking for her brother and met Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 2. She saves little Sherry Birkin from chief Brian Irons and fought her G-infected father William Birkin in his monstrous form.

Jill Valentine
Following her recent stint in Marvel Cinematic Universe, English actress Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp, Ready Player One) is set to appear as Jill Valentine, lead character in Resident Evil and protagonist in Resident Evil 3.
Previous live-action version of Jill was played by actress/model Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Resident Evil: Afterlife). Due to her notable presence in early RE games, Valentine is likely to get a lead role in upcoming reboot.

Leon S. Kennedy
Although length of role is not yet disclosed, Canadian-British actor Avan Jogia (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Zombieland: Double Tap) will be taking on the role of Leon S. Kennedy, iconic rookie cop of Raccoon City Police Department.
Leon is a fan-favorite character that debuted in Resident Evil 2 and helps Claire find her brother Chris amidst a city-wide zombie outbreak. He returns in Resident Evil 4 to rescue president's daughter from a cult known as Los Iluminados.

William Birkin
A virologist working for Umbrella Corporation, Dr. William Birkin is primarily responsible for destruction incident of Raccoon City and actor Neal McDonough (Minority Report, Sonic the Hedgehog) has been cast to play his character.
Birkin going rogue and infected himself with G-Virus after he was gunned down has set a series of events into motion. Transformed into a heavily mutated creature, he killed all U.S.S. squad members and spread T-virus through sewers.
Johannes Roberts expressed his attachment to Resident Evil game franchise during a press release lately.
With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences.
A live-action TV series adaptation based on Resident Evil properties is also currently in works for online streaming platform Netflix that will run for a full season of eight episodes and will focus on teenage sisters Billie and Jade Wesker.
Earlier last month, brand-new CGI anime series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness was announced by developer/publisher Capcom. A mainline release, Resident Evil: Village is scheduled to arrive on early 2021 for PC and next-gen consoles.
