Godfall Will Be Always Online
Though not a live-service game, upcoming "looter-slasher" game Godfall requires an active PS Plus subscription.
Revealed as one of the first next-gen titles, upcoming action role-playing game Godfall from developer Counterplay Games and publisher Gearbox Publishing is set to launch on November 12, 2020, for Windows PC and PlayStation 5.
Recently it was confirmed via official product description page on PlayStation Store that you will require an internet connection and a subscription to PlayStation Plus for playing Godfall, even if you choose to play its single-player campaign.

Godfall gameplay features include drop-in and drop-out co-op mode that lets you join with up to three players in story campaign, so that people can come together and team-up to continue missions with friends rather than going solo.
For obvious reasons, co-op play would require an active PlayStation Plus subscription but recent details from Godfall product page on PSN suggests that PS Plus membership is compulsory even if you want to have single-player experience.
Fans were wondering whether they are allowed to play it offline and Gearbox has responded by saying Godfall is "still in development". A month ahead of launch, people eventually got their answer from a PlayStation Network listing lately.
PlayStation page for Godfall clearly mentions "Online Play Required" and "PS Plus Required for Online Play" in two separate labels, implying an online connection is mandatory similar to other loot-based games as Destiny 2 and The Division 2.
Like a few other next-generation console releases, Godfall base game will cost you an increased price of $69.99 only, which is followed by a Digital Deluxe Edition and Ascended Edition for PS5 that are worth $89.99 and $99.99 respectively.
PlayStation Plus subscription package for a year currently costs $59.99 only in retail and though it can't get any cheaper than this, putting up such paywall drive away players who were looking forward to enjoy Godfall during holiday season.
An essential membership to PS Plus puts an extra financial barrier for many regular players who wanted to play Godfall. Also, you have to spend around $499.99 or $399.99 on a PlayStation 5 console if you can get your hands on one first.
Of course, players on PC platform need not to spend more than regular price for Godfall at Epic Games Store on day-one but the game becomes useless once Counterplay Games or Gearbox Publishing decides to shut down online servers.
