Most recent God of War franchise releases has been expected to debut on newer generation of consoles when Sony revealed that players can run almost every PlayStation 4 game on next-gen console system via backwards compatibility.
It was also mentioned that some of these PS4 games would allow you transfer save files to PS5 and continue playing. However, availability of save transfer feature ultimately depends on each individual developer studios and not Sony.
Despite being confused about how backwards compatibility and save transfer will work, people are happy regardless. In anticipation of upcoming sequel God of War: Ragnarök, players get to test out next-gen consoles ahead of launch.
Recent trend of developers adding features to transfer old saves to modern console systems can open up more creative ways of storytelling for fans of narrative-focused games like God of War and previous titles from GoW franchise.
