The Last of Us 2 Becomes Third Best-Selling PlayStation Game

Naughty Dog's most-anticipated title The Last of Us Part II is third best-selling game in PlayStation history.

Even after several controversy and fan-criticism, PlayStation 4-exclusive action-adventure game The Last of Us Part II by developer Naughty Dog and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment has broken many records since June 2020 launch.

According to a recent report from NPD Group, The Last of Us 2 becomes third best-selling Sony first-party title in life-to-date sale only behind PS4-exclusives Marvel's Spider-Man by Insomniac Games and God of War from Santa Monica Studio.

Naughty Dog's highly-anticipated sequel of The Last of Us made biggest retail and digital sales debut this year. PlayStation and Sony confirm that TLoU2 is fastest-selling PS4-exclusive ever that has sold over 4 million copies in three days.

The Last of Us Part 2 also is third best-selling game in United States within two months of its release, getting outsold by Nintendo Switch-exclusive Animal Crossing: New Horizons and multi-platform release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

NPD Group report says, The Last of Us 2 also marks second-biggest launch month ever for a game published by Sony in U.S. TLoU2 creative director Neil Druckmann states his appreciation to millions of fans for such amazing response.

The Last of Us Part II broke digital sales record of Marvel's Spider-Man and Final Fantasy VII Remake in June by selling over 2.8 million copies. Another first-party Sony title, Ghost of Tsushima was best-selling game of July 2020.
