Despite a series of leaks and rumors running amok online, publisher Activision has yet to confirm that Call of Duty: Black Ops series reboot is being developed by Treyarch and Raven Software are working on for past few years.
After teasing fans with cryptic clues for a month, Activision finally announces upcoming first-person shooter title in Call of Duty annual series to be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which is awaiting an official reveal on August 26, 2020.

Treyarch has uploaded an unlisted teaser trailer for Black Ops Cold War that offers a sneak peak to its story.

Compiled of historical footages and news reels, latest trailer delves into story background with references from events of Cold War. Players are informed about a Soviet spy code-named Perseus by Yuri Bezmenov, former KGB member.
Yuri warns United States government that they are in a state of war and very little time to save themselves. Perseus has most likely infiltrated Western intelligence agencies to weaken U.S. against Soviet influence in a long-running conflict.

He explains a method that brings about economic crisis and failure in foreign relations by slowly demoralizing a nation called "Active Measures". Till this date, Perseus remains unknown and is working undercover to get U.S. defense secrets.
