Cyberpunk 2077 Braindance Mode, Customization and Player Choice

CD Projekt sheds light on Red Braindance gameplay, cybernetic modifications and player choice in Cyberpunk 2077.

Instead of a September release, upcoming role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 has now been delayed to November 19, 2020 by developer/publisher CD Projekt Red as they keep polishing and optimizing their most ambitious project yet.

In first broadcast of Night City Wire episode, CDPR has revealed in-depth details of new gameplay features, shades light on levels of character customization and varied player choices to explore in expansive open-world of CP2077.

CD Projekt Red debuts a brand-new trailer titled "The Gig", showcasing gameplay and story of CP2077.

In latest "The Gig" trailer, CDPR shows a vibrant side of Night City from prologue section of the game. V starts off a mercenary career by teaming-up with a thief named Jackie Welles and their adventure will lead to series of consequences.

They come across street-smart netrunner T-Bug and a fixer named Dexter Deshawn, who assigns them to steal a prototype biochip that belongs to Arasaka Corporation and they screw up so hard that Johnny Silverhand had to show up.

Adam Smasher
For a brief glance, a brand-new enemy character is shown in latest trailer named Adam Smasher. He took body modification and cybernetic implants to next level and has almost become a cyborg with ties to Arasaka Corporation.

Adam is originated from Cyberpunk Red pen-and-paper game by creator Mike Pondsmith and player character will face-off against this 9-feet-tall metal man in a brawl at some point if they choose to pursue corporate storyline from start.

The Badlands
One of the seven districts of Night City known as Badlands is where you would meet V's partner in crime, Jackie Welles. Together, you will attempt to acquire a rumored chip of immortality from Arasaka Corp. on behalf of Dexter Deshawn.

People will come across many factions and gangs while scouring through these areas to engage in side-quests. CDPR dev team has hinted of encountering many challenges in an open-world and having Mad Max-style sandbox gameplay action.

Braindance Mode
Braindance gameplay segment begins with tech savvy Mox gang member Judy Alvarez showing V how to navigate through its neural tech how to relive past events and memories of a person using a video-editing software like interface.

V can access recorded memories of non-player characters using BD tech, another concept taken from Cyberpunk tabletop game. You can see through eyes of an NPC or in third-person to give you a better view of surrounding environment.

Braindance feature is useful to scan area details for clues and may come in handy to solve various puzzles. Recordings will have separate layers for audio and visuals with additional data of adjacent background of a particular scene.

BD tech will turn players into an advanced security camera as described by quest designers Pawel Sasko. Braindance is a brilliant way to include puzzles into CP2077 and CD Projekt Red has spent enough time to add more of them.

Customization and Player Choice
Before beginning your journey in Night City, customization for mercenary protagonist V begins at character creator with base body type. You can pick up masculine or feminine voice and nitty-gritty features like markings, tattoos etc.

We now live in a world where almost everything is heavily focused on individuality and you can even adjust body features like private parts. Your appearance and cybernetic modifications is your identity in a near-distant future of Cyberpunk.

CD Projekt Red has added 17 eyes, 8 eyebrows, 35 hairstyles, 17 jaw and mouths, 3 nipple types, 2 penis size and types, 6 skin types, 11 piercings, 5 pubic hair styles and only 1 vagina option to let you customize your sexy body parts.

Moreover, there will be varieties for blemishes, cyberware, eye makeup, scars, tattoos and types of teeth option. There are three presets and a random character generator alongside numbered options of various customisations.

One of the available life paths from Corpo, Nomad and Street Kid will start setting a backstory that shapes your legacy. As you keep making progress, you will discover an unending appeal for cybernetic modifications that help you level up.

Previous options like Netrunner from Cyberpunk 2077 deep dive is seemingly removed from current build of the game. Each available class will have a set opening and different dialogue options that will surely affect your playthrough.

More you get access to spreading perk trees, your hacking skills will get better or brute strength will increase. Cyberware allows V's body to be outfitted with enhancement and weaponry for further alteration to impact your playthrough.

There are mods to let you hack into tech to know camera and enemy positions within a room, which helps a lot for stealth play. Or you can install wire-like whips via Monowire that gives you an edge in melee combats during any encounter.

Night City is divided into many districts that houses different factions like corporation shills, street gangs or even wastelanders trying to survive. Many of them will come across V as friends or enemies depending on your dialogue and choices.

While interacting with a gang, you can try and attack them to steal from them or pay up to avoid trouble. Not every situation gives you enough response time to rethink your decisions and you have to rely on instinct for most part.

Even when conflict becomes unavoidable, Cyberpunk 2077 gives you more than one way out based on your skill sets. V can eventually turn into a tank with enough reflexes or choose to wield firearms and melee weapons in a fight.

Those who prefer a stealthier approach can focus developing Cool skill tree and become master of hacking. V will be controlling cameras, distract enemies, turn their device on them, making a weapon malfunction or just explode a grenade.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
CD Projekt Red has been working on a brand-new anime show based on Cyberpunk universe titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in association with Netflix and Studio Trigger, which they have revealed in a surprise announcement today.

Though no glimpse of upcoming Netflix series is shown yet, Edgerunners will focus on new characters within Cyberpunk world. Studio Trigger has previously worked on Darling and the Franxx, Kill La Kill and Little Witch Academia.

The Gig is just the tip of an iceberg that Cyberpunk 2077 is building within its in-game world and only teases its opening. More gameplay mechanics are expected to be discussed in future episodes of Night City Wire prior release of CP2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 will see release on Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Following next-gen console launch, this holiday season, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will receive backward compatibility upgrade for free.
