The Last of Us Part II Outsold Marvel's Spider-Man in Pre-Orders
PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan claims The Last of Us Part II outselling Marvel's Spider-Man pre-orders in Europe.
Though there is a series of controversies that developer Naughty Dog and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment are dealing lately regarding upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive The Last of Us Part II, fans are still excited for its launch.
Sony had to postpone release of The Last of Us sequel last month only to make it available once again with a new release date of June 19, 2020 and according to report, pre-orders for TLoU2 in Europe have already surpassed Marvel's Spider-Man.

Sony's PlayStation division President and CEO Jim Ryan states demand for The Last of Us 2 is more than 2018 super-hero game at this point. Marvel's Spider-Man was also a PS4-exclusive and sold over 13 million units by August 2019.
Ryan believes post-apocalyptic survival game TLoU2 could be a defining experience for current- generation and without confirming a visually updated version, he assures same version of the game will run on next-gen Sony console as well.

Even though compared in estimate sales numbers, Spider-Man game on PS4 and The Last of Us sequel are from different genre. Insomniac's super-hero adventure was for teenager audience and TLoU2 is targeted for mature demographic.
Naughty Dog has implied and heavily marketed their most ambitious project yet as brutally realistic and full of violence. Also, they have many suggestive themes that may be a matter of concern to many parents and sensitive players.

Despite many are waiting for this holiday season to see release of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, players have a lot to look forward to in terms of exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part II from current-gen consoles.
Ahead of The Last of Us Part II release next month, Sony has planned for a PlayStation 5 reveal event on June 4, 2020. TLoU2 may get a small promo on stage alongside expected showcase video for upcoming new PS5-exclusive titles.
