NieR Replicant Remake Announced
Square Enix announces a remake for NieR Replicant to celebrate 10th anniversary of NieR franchise.
To celebrate 10th anniversary of action role-playing game series NieR in April, publisher Square Enix has announced a new version of NieR Replicant for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in association with developer ToyLogic.
Before being revealed for modern systems lately as NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139, the game originally launched in Japan, for PlayStation 3, followed by a version for Xbox 360 in Japan and Western market that came out as NieR Gestalt.

Instead of going for a high-definition remaster for current-gen consoles at this point, Square Enix has chosen to do a version up for Replicant. All of its original Japanese voice acting will be redone and a new character will be introduced.
When asked whether there will be a different ending for Replicant, series producer Yosuke Saito has played coy about it but there is a possibility. All of its songs are re-recorded and NieR composer Keiichi Okabe has added new songs.

Another new game, NieR Reincarnation has also been announced for Android and iOS devices with a teaser.

Reincarnation is a role-playing game for mobile by Applibot, employing a free-to-play model with some micro-transactions involved. Aside from showcase of a location called "The Cage", there is nothing much to pick up from the teaser.
Nier is about a journey of titular protagonist to find a cure for his terminally ill daughter in a dystopian world. Keeping that same premise intact, latest version would only change its lead character as a brother to Yonah instead of her father.

Square Enix has yet to reveal further details on features included in new version and a possible release window very soon. Platinum Games officially has shown no involvement in Replicant project but may have some minor ties after all.
A cult-classic RPG title, NieR Replicant sets stage for its sequel Nier: Automata, which became an even bigger success on release. Ver. 1.22474487139 is essentially a polished re-release that has spawned from 17-year old Drakengard series.
