Half-Life: Alyx Gameplay Reveal
Valve releases new gameplay footage of upcoming VR game Half-Life: Alyx, showing off control and movements.
In less than a few weeks, developer/publisher Valve Corporation will be releasing their upcoming flagship VR game Half-Life: Alyx on March 23, 2020 to mark their return in game development after more than 12 years.
Most recently, Valve has released three videos featuring nearly 10 minutes of gameplay footage from HL: Alyx, each showcasing lead character Alyx Vance playing on different environments and implementing various in-game features.

Following gameplay videos from Half-Life: Alyx focuses on and demonstrates three unique locomotion styles.

Three different movement styles are highlighted in these videos and one is teleport, which lets you move from one place to another. Continuous is traditional first-person style and shift locomotion style is zooming transition to locations.
Variation to player movements through a blend of shifting and regular maneuver is likely to minimize motion sickness while playing in VR. She even uses gravity gloves to catch grenades thrown at her to return them back to her attackers.

Alyx Vance takes on some Headcrab zombies and took them down by either shooting or using other tools at her disposal. When she entered an occupied City 17, there is a heated firefight between her and a group of Combine soldiers.
In terms of gameplay, HL: A displays its VR interactivity by having Alyx perform set of tasks, work with objects, solving puzzles etc. She is seen removing planks from a doorway and grabbing a car door to use as shield during gunfight.

It seems that fans are not getting their hands on Half-Life 3 anytime soon and have to be content with Half-Life 2 prequel game. Valve is probably using HL: Alyx to revive its iconic franchise to pave path for HL3 release in future.
Half-Life: Alyx will be out on Steam in weeks to play with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, Windows Mixed Reality and Valve Index. Players who own Index headsets will get free copies of the game with gun skins and themed content as bonus.
