Shenmue 3 Offers Limited Time Only Refunds
Kickstarter backers of Shenmue III have only two weeks for refund requests or to change their preferred version.
Even after having a very successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, action-adventure game Shenmue III from developer Ys Net and publisher Deep Silver took its sweet time in development phase and had a number of painful delays.
When it becomes an Epic Games Store-exclusive, upset fans were asking for a refund that was initially denied. Epic Games offered to pay angry backers on their behalf but now it is revealed that requests will be accepted for only two-weeks.

In a latest update on Kickstarter page, Ys Net announced to do an e-mail survey on backers in mid-September that offers a refund request for anyone who originally pledged for PC platform and don't want to have Epic Store version.
Typically, these surveys go out to donors shortly before releasing final product to finalize their product preferences or change shipping address. Unfortunately, it will last only for two-weeks and doesn't seem like a smooth process at all.

Following that limited time window, no one can request a refund anymore and processing could take from up to 20 business days to 3 months for entire transaction to be complete, meaning a backer can wait for 4 months to get their money back.
Asking for patience from fans, Ys Net has apologized for this lengthy process which is due to Shenmue III campaign being running for longer than 4 years that adds up with complexity of payment arrangements and transactions system.

Ys Net has also planned out a trial version for the game, which will be coming out in mid-September and no specific dates were revealed. It will be playable for an hour but they didn't specify whether or not it is an exclusive to PC.
Although players can get quite a lot of experience from that opening hour from demo that is set on the game's starting area. However, no progress will be carried out to final release version when it becomes available to PC and PlayStation 4.

Even though CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney promised to cover any cost for Ys Net to cover refunds for player base on PC, remaining Kickstarter backers are not going to receive its pre-order content for free anymore as they were promised.
Shenmue III is currently scheduled to release for PC via Epic Games Store and PS4 on November 19, 2019. It will likely to come to Steam storefront a year after release when its one year exclusivity period on EGS is finally over.
