Gears 5 Versus Multiplayer Tech Test Release Date
Versus Multiplayer tech test weekend sessions for upcoming shooter title Gears 5 will kick off on July 19.
After a spectacular showcase at E3 2019 press event, developer The Coalition and publisher Xbox Game Studios announced upcoming third-person shooter Gears 5 will be arriving on September 10, 2019 for PC and Xbox One.
Following Xbox press briefing, we had our first look at gameplay of new three player co-op mode Escape. To give players a taste of Versus Multiplayer mode before launch, weekly tech test is scheduled to start from July 19, 2019.

During these weekend test sessions, players get to take part in Arcade, competitive game mode Escalation and King of the Hill. Those who are interested in sharpening their playing chops and learn new in-game mechanics can try out Bootcamp.
A brief Tour of Duty experience is featured in tech test to get new content and earn exclusive Tech Test Banner upon completing given Medals. Going further to unlock three Versus Weapon skins will require you to complete more challenges.

If you have already placed a pre-order for Gears 5 or are a subscriber of Xbox Game Pass service, on July 17, 10 AM PDT, pre-download will be made available for you on PC and Xbox One to let you participate in tech test.
Console owners need Xbox Live Gold membership for online multiplayer but to help improve the experience for everyone, there might be some queuing. Also, recommended hardware specs for tech test on PC platform are detailed below.

Online play will begin from July 19, 10 AM PDT to run till July 21, only to go live once again same time on July 26 and continue through July 29. In between test period, servers are to remain offline but tech test will be available to download.
Although Gears 5 will see Steam release for PC platform but The Coalition were quite specific about Windows Store pre-order for accessing test phase on their official announcement, which clearly indicates test sessions will not be available there.
