As we mentioned about change in playing style, newest Samurai Shodown will deprive new and season players of "Combo", which is an intentional move by developers to gradually make you skilled in combat other than relying on button mashing.
In fact, relying on the latter and being impatient in a face-off can cost you dearly if you are not paying attention. So, learn from mistakes you made in each battle and hone on striking at a precise time to be far more effective in a fight.

One core gameplay elements distinct to the franchise is Rage Gauge that gets heated up for each time you take a hit and when it is at max Rage, players get bonus attack damage for every single blow they can land on their opponent in a match.
Other than that and a Weapon Flipping Technique to disarm your rival, you can now deliver a Lightning Blade attack by performing Rage Explosion. Once used, it will take away your Rage Gauge and you are to survive with skillful moves.

It looks like SNK has added a Dojo Mode for players to "git gud" before they go butting heads in multiplayer. Through a revolutionary deep learning AI, your play style will be analyzed from offline or story mode playthrough.
Thus, the game creates a simulation with your unique way of playing into a CPU-controlled "ghost" character. You can either send your ghost fighter into clouds to challenge other players or even go up against a top professional from around the world.

Over a decade may have changed a few aspects of the series but a heavy influence of Japanese culture remains intact in its core to unleash a new era of samurai warriors upon us once again with a brand-new installment.
Despite being a weapon-based fighting game series, Samurai Shodown always relied heavily on a plot and upcoming 2019 game is no different. Set prior to the events of Samurai Spirits from 1993, this reboot can become another hit for staying true to its heart.
