Final Fantasy XIV Crosses 16 Million Players
Just ahead of Shadowbringers expansion release, MMORPG title Final Fantasy XIV crosses 16 million players mark.
Though massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV was heavily bashed over for a series of issues, developer/publisher Square Enix took time working on it and replaced it with FFXIV: A Realm Reborn in 2013.
Initially launched for PC and PlayStation 3, FFXIV eventually came to Mac and PlayStation 4 soon only to catch speed over time and has currently reached over 16 million players, just before the release of Shadowbringers expansion.

Over time, the game improvised over its issues and has accomplished a rare feat of rising from being pinned to the ground. A bold move from Square Enix to scrap down everything that didn't work and completely remaking it really paid off.
Afterwards, this critically-acclaimed MMORPG title picked up a good pace with players that led to the release of both Heavensward and Stormblood expansions, setting stage for a third DLC pack titled Shadowbringers to complement core story of FFXIV.

Upcoming third expansion would essentially feature loads of contents including dungeons and raids, increased level cap, new jobs, playable races and zones for the fan-favorite massively multiplayer online role-playing game.
Scheduled to arrive on July 2, Square Enix already showcased whatever change players can expect from it and an overwhelming surge in player-count has since pushed to a staggering 16 million in anticipation of Shadowbringers.

In terms of video game genres, MMORPG are one of the most complex types where turning back on your feet after messing up once big time is near impossible but FFXIV has made that possible with "A Realm Reborn" and continues to expand.
While eagerly waiting for upcoming third expanded chapter of Final Fantasy XIV, series fans can prepare themselves and warm up in advance by simply grabbing Heavensward for free until June 27 if they already own the base game.
