The Witcher video game franchise was built upon original novels written by author Andrzej Sapkowski, by developer studio CDPR, which has led to a total of three successful installments which received critical acclaim.
Back in May 2017, online streaming-service Netflix decided to explore their distinct take on its lore before producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's The Defenders) was finally announced as series show-runner in December 2017.

Previously, Cavill revealed on late-night talk show Conan that he originally missed a call from director Zack Snyder (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Watchmen) to be cast as Superman because he was too busy playing World of Warcraft at that time.
Cavill also took interest in reading Sapkowski's novels and recommended them worth reading as they are really good. Although we know very less about current status of this upcoming Netflix series, script for pilot is complete but no news on casting yet.
