The first cinematic opens up with a shrouded person enters the fortress while it was raining outside and Mario's long-time companion Luigi wandering around inside Castle Dracula. He is chased by mummies, snakes and finally is faced by Death itself.

The scythe is swung and his soul leaves the body just before a whip chain hits Death on the face, revealing the attacker to be legendary vampire hunter Simon Belmont from Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. However, by then it was too late for our little friend.

Shortly afterwards, when he was facing off against immortal vampire Dracula Vlad Tepes, the lord of the undead unleashed a fiery attack and Simon was about to get it, another valiant warrior arriving straight out of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night steps in.

Richter Belmont is the second recruit from Castlevania series, carrying the same legacy of his ancestor. Both has been in vampire hunting business and now has crossed over to take part in the biggest brawl fest of history.

Simon mostly relies on his iconic whip aside from his signature axe, cross, holy water and good-old fist. Although his weapon is slow when it comes to use it in a fight and leaves him vulnerable for attack, it does have an extended range than any other weapon from any character.

His earlier design has been polished and has gone through a little makeover. Except from animation, looks and voice, Simon and Ritcher has identical move sets, making the latter as an echo fighter of the former.

Roy from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade previously got enlisted into SSBU and now Chrom from Fire Emblem Awakening joins the list due to fan-request. Even though his moves are based on Roy, he has some unique moves to be considered as a non-Echo.

Sci-fi action game series Metroid has been privileged by having two of their prominent figures; bounty hunter Samus and extraterrestrial dragon Ridley. Now, Dark Samus from Metroid Prime enters the fray as an echo fighter of her counterpart.

The second introduction clip reveals a villainous figure from Donkey Kong Country, King K. Rool stomping over, menacing his long-time enemies Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. This alligator-like Kremling king loves bananas as much as his foes do.

To be honest, he appears to be more funny than scary on any level and throwing of his crown to opponents are a clear example of that. His polished design lets him fit perfectly along with other combatants now.

These new fighters are bringing along new stages themed on their own image from respective franchises. In terms of answering whether or not Echo Fighters are getting their own slots, it actually depends on your likings.

Current addition of brawlers makes it clear that Nintendo and Sakurai has been listening to fan pledges for months and hopefully, some more fan-favorites will pop out for this Nintendo Switch-exclusive.
