Quake Champions Is Permanently Free-to-Play
id Software and Bethesda takes up stage at QuakeCon 2018 to announce Quake Champions free-to-play forever.
Developer id Software's effort to revamp Quake III Arena and bring out an expansion of Quake Live, first-person shooter title Quake Champions came to play on 2017 in Early Access of Steam after it came out of beta. Along with publisher Bethesda Softworks, they have announced the game to be free-to-play permanently today, at QuakeCon 2018. It was one of their long-running plans that the developers were keeping in mind for this title as a business model they want to follow in future.

Since gaming industry has changed a lot in past decade and people expects a lot from new games these days, the free-to-play version lets people participate right away with no strings attached and not putting their money on the line first hand. This way many interested players from around the world will be able to chip in easily and it is up to them if they want to unlock all the Champions as they continue playing by purchasing the Starter Pack or Champions Pack if they prefer.

Born in the 90's, Quake franchise has pioneered fast-paced arena shooter genre and has evolved with time to become a true spectacle following its initial announcement in 2016. Aside from featuring known heroes from within the series, popular protagonists and other characters like B.J. Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein, Doomguy from Doom and most recently, Quake’s very own Death Knight joined the roster with all having distinctive abilities.
