Konami Shuts Down Silent Hills P.T. Remake
Publisher Konami has taken down the fan-made Silent Hills P.T. Remake by a 17-year-old game developer.
In an attempt to reinvent Silent Hills franchise, video game publisher studio Konami roped in Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water) for a collaboration. They came up with P.T. or "Playable Teaser" in 2014 but then suddenly got scrapped even before Kojima left the company. For long it stayed on PlayStation store but was pulled from there in 2015. However, it still existed in places and one recent form was a latest PC port by a dedicated fan.

A 17-year-old game developer going by the name Qimsar has taken over a herculean task of doing a complete remake of the first-person psychological horror for PC. He self-taught himself to do it by using Unreal Engine 4 and have done a commendable job making a port of the game for PC, so that players who have missed out the opportunity to play P.T. on first place can still enjoy it. His attempt of recreating one of the scariest gaming moments in history met with positive response too.

However, as he was offering this downloadable build to everyone for free on GameJolt, Qimsar expressed concerned over the possibilities of Konami wanting to take it down anytime like any other fan-made games and the bell is finally rung. After his version of the remake gets coverage on social media and gaming sites, his project got the boot and is permanently removed when Konami reached out to him regarding the matter. This doesn't make sense as there are plenty of P.T. remakes still out there.

On GameJolt, Qimsar has detailed the entire phone conversation he had with one of the company representative before taking down the game and they were apparently very nice about the whole thing. Although his game had to be taken down for legal issues but the company stuffs were really impressed seeing his effort. So, they tried to make up for his endeavors by offering him an internship at Konami, which is super cool for him or anyone you know.

Silent Hill series from the 90's had been a staple for horror-fans but after Silent Hill 2, the latter titles were not able to bring back the nightmarish charm it had. Considering P.T. was downloaded over 1,000,000 times, they could've gone with it with their eyes closed. Before the original "Playable Teaser" went to development hell, actor Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead) was involved with it as well. Currently, he and director del Toro are involved in Kojima's upcoming PlayStation 4-exclusive action game Death Stranding.

Well, another one bites the dust. I didn't get to play it before it got pulled but it’s a huge opportunity for the kid. Happy for him.
Yup. He's going places. Making games of tomorrow!
