The Witcher 3 PlayStation 4 Pro Update Facing Issues
CD Projekt Red finally brings HDR support for The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 4 but visual bug still remains.
It's been three years action role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from developer CD Projekt Red came out on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Yet, people cannot seem to get enough of it and so, constant updates are being released every now and then. The most recent released patch is for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro, which was about to fix issues from the one released back in April. However, players started immediately complaining about having some visual problems.

This update was introduced with HDR color support for Sony consoles but creating issues when people tried to run the game in 4K. Patch 1.60/1.61 was dropped to support all PS4 consoles as they promised in December while adding 60 fps support Xbox One X. That was it for back then and Xbox One S had to wait till March to have updated with superior visuals. Aside from graphical improvement, the patch was supposed to do some performance optimizations and stability improvements.

According to developer patch notes; there were also a few localization bug-fixing and slight visual enhancements. However, players were mostly concerned with object popping up in between places and less detail in distance. Suddenly that has become a major issue with everyone who tried out this update. Some objects are getting disappeared and then some of them appearing out of nowhere. This are not just some claims, there are videos on YouTube to back it up.
If you look closely, Geralt of Rivia runs through the field, grasses starts showing detailed texture as he nears them but they remain on a reduced level of detail when seen from the far. The most noticeable immersion breaking comes after 0:52 time frame of the clip above. Of course the tree didn't just popped out but it only detailed out as whole only when he approaches nearby it and not before. After seven months of waiting, this really made a lot of fan upset on so many levels.

Players who have faced this have mentioned that up until patch 1.60, this problem didn't exist. Supersampling for PS4 Pro also is removed for those playing it on a 1080p TV and need to enable settings once again. Issue of items popping up only comes when the game is played in 4K Mode, while 1080p mode remain fine for now. The update came out on a perfect time as The Witcher 3 will be celebrating its three-year anniversary on May 19, if it was not for these current inconveniences.
