Regalia: Royal Edition Release Date Announced
A Kickstarter funded project by developer Pixelated Milk, Regalia is a JRPG video game which mainly took inspiration from the Final Fantasy days of the creators or the modern day classic Persona series. Even though the game is from a European studio, it is loosely based on JRPG theme while they also mixed up the storytelling adventure in it at the same time. Regalia in its core is a tactical RPG that has a great plot to follow you up on your journey.
The game is about a young man named Kay who is out to restore his kingdom of Ascalia, interacting with other in-game characters who will come across as he advances in his quest. As he journeys to get back his throne again, Kay will lead us to some of the most cherished JRPG moments in recent times. The combats you will get into will be well rewarding if you are tactical enough because that is the main objective of the game.
At times, you can tone down the difficulty level a bit or heck, you can even skip battles if you do not wait to see what plot point is laid ahead of you. However, avoiding fights will not simply make the trouble go away because there is always something up in Ascalia and you've got to deal with them at some point. Just as you are already troubled with a lot that is happening around your kingdom, you also have to face the drama of your teammates’ as well.
Many may think that JRPG has to do something with being Japanese but the developers at Pixelated Milk believe that it is more to do with a certain gameplaying style. They pointed out that a game made in the West will certainly have unique design differences than the one made in the East but that is not essentially a bad thing. Games like Baldur’s Gate or Final Fantasy series has taken a very different approach to the genre despite being considered as consider role-playing games.
Indie studios often face a few common problems like shortage of crews on board and thus, it becomes very difficult for them to get the project up and running on time. The entire process of "just make a game together" turns out to be whole lot of painful than anyone ever thinks of initially. No matter how determined you are to get out of cliche stories and sometimes bothersome trends, you always have limitations slowing you down.
The game was never meant to be a hero's journey or how he bravely saves the world, it was planned as a single plot that could produce many spin-off stories if needed. Upon its entry on the other consoles in the market, Regalia surely will make a name for it and a unique identity of its own.
Regalia is a Japan-themed tactical RPG was released back in May 2017 for PC and according to the announcement of Pixelated Milk, the game is about to make its debut on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Xbox One as Regalia: Royal Edition in 2018. There will be no Early Access on Steam for the game and nor it will allow any in-game micro-transactions either. The Royal Edition contains a 30 hours long adventure to experience and many vivid characters to interact with.
