Classic Sega Games Comes to Nintendo Switch
Retro game fans are in for a treat as Nintendo brings classic Sega titles like Phantasy Star and Sonic the Hedgehog to Switch later this year.
Retro games have always their unique appeal to gamers and the urge to go back to nostalgia lane every once in a while is pretty irresistible for some of us. These days, every other game from few years back are getting remastered or ported to consoles and this will be a great time to bring some classic games back. So, Nintendo decided to bring in some classic Sega games for their latest console Nintendo Switch later sometime of this year.

Nintendo already has legendary games like Mario and Legend of Zelda franchise in their fold but instead, they are choosing to Sega games from pixelated era to their next gen console. Capcom and Square Enix previously released some of their best games for Switch and now Sega is just following their steps. It is time to at least remind people how they used to rule video games on their prime and the new generation has still a lot to learn about the old days.

During the recent SEGA FES event in Japan, they have made an announcement of porting 15 of their titles to Switch in foreseeable future. Only three titles were mentioned as part of Sega Ages Initiative; Phantasy Star, Sonic the Hedgehog and Thunder Force 4. Whereas these games are soon to be headed to a new home, we still are unclear about if they are just bringing the old games or newer releases and they have a huge list to follow that up.

Unfortunately, these games will only available in Nintendo Switch eShop for Japan and they still haven't disclosed if they are planning to release the titles for other countries as well. Studio M2 will handle Sega Ages games like they did earlier with some re-releases and so far, their work on 8-bit and 16-bit emulation is unquestionable. We have Ecco the Dolphin and Streets of Rage on Nintendo 3DS as proof to that statement. So, it is safe to say that this is a great new move for Sega.

We are left speculating which other titles will be announced next and would they be utilizing Switch’s multiplayer capabilities to intensify the fun. Sega is focusing on making some cash with Mega Drive full of pre-loaded games from Genesis system. Mega Drive collection is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One soon but Nintendo won't probably join that party.
