John Cena May Star in Duke Nukem Movie
American professional wrestler and a superstar of WWE, John Cena is no new name in Hollywood because of him starring in action movies like 12 Rounds and The Marine. Now that there is a window for a Duke Nukem movie adaptation based on the popular first-person shooter video game franchise, chances are we might see the fan-favorite WWE superstar John Cena in the leading role of Duke Nukem himself.

Director Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes have joined forces with Paramount Pictures as they acquired rights for the Duke Nukem franchise to make a movie on the series. Platinum Dunes is responsible for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action film and small-budget original horror movie series like Ouija and The Purge as well as remakes of A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

In the 90's, Duke Nukem was one of the most popular video games created by Apogee Software that has debuted as a side-scrolling platformer and the shades-wearing muscular protagonist used to rock his red tank-top while he used to save the world by kicking some Alien butt! The most recent entry of the series was Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour, which came out in 2016 for the 20th Anniversary of the game.

Aside from his very successful wrestling career, good-guy John Cena is quite a renowned name in cinema. We do believe that Cena is well fitted to portray this rootin tootin action hero on screen but quite not sure about the fate of the film though. The voice actor for the character Duke Nukem, Jon St. John however is not so pleased with the idea of the film adaptation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Duke Nukem movie that we are talking about here is in its primary stage and not even a director or writer has been hired for the project just yet. Apparently, John Cena is also going to star in the upcoming Transformers prequel spin-off Bumblebee: The Movie in 2018, produced by Michael Bay himself.
